About Me

April Pizzagoni's Fashion Design Studio was developed from my passion for sewing, fashion and teaching. I am a home school mother of four beautiful children. For the past nine years I have enjoyed teaching them all the normal academic subjects as well as the fine art of sewing.

I began my love for sewing and fashion at an early age. Growing up my mother, a self-taught seamstress, made all of my clothes. Throughout my childhood and teen years, I would spend hours watching my mother sew up fabulous clothes and beautiful gifts.

After leaving home to attend college, I quickly realized that my mother wasn't around to make my clothes. I now had to shop for my own clothing. I started to realize that ready-to-wear garments do not fit as well as custom made. In my early 20's, I was finally able to afford to buy my first sewing machine. I enrolled in a local sewing class and before long started sewing up clothes, gifts, and curtains for not only myself but also for my family and friends. Five years later, I decided to take my love for sewing and fashion more seriously and enrolled in a fashion design program where I studied garment construction, pattern making, fashion history, grading and draping.
